Anne Marie O'Melia, M.S., M.D.
Lindner Center of HOPE, Director of Eating Disorders

Dr. Anne Marie O’Melia specializes in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders.  She is board certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is also board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has additional subspecialty board certifications in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and in Psychosomatic Medicine.

In her role as Medical Director of Lindner Center of HOPE’s Eating Disorders Program, Dr. O’Melia has built a new and innovative program providing both inpatient and outpatient treatment for eating disorders. She is also a member of the Eating Disorder research team at the Center.

Prior to joining the Lindner Center of HOPE, Dr. O’Melia provided comprehensive medical and psychiatric services to patients with eating disorders and other brain disorders in many treatment settings. She served as Medical Director for Youth Services at the University Neuropsychiatric Institute (UNI) and developed a treatment protocol for specialized care of eating disorder patients in an acute general inpatient setting.   She also served as Medical Director of the Psychiatric Consult Liaison Service at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was named an American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Teaching Scholar in 2005. She presently serves on the National Board of Medical Examiners, USMLE Step 2 Test Material Development Committee.  She is the 2008 recipient for University of Utah Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Triple Board Residency Program Teaching award.

Among Dr. O’Melia’s honors and awards is being named one of “The Best Doctors in America,” Woodward/White 2007-2008. She was also named to the list of “Future Leaders in Psychiatry” Emory University.  Dr. O’Melia is a member of American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Academy of Eating Disorders, and Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine.
